Texas Coastal Bend tour guide Early Spring 2016 37 The people of Port Aransas should be commended for making the choice to invest in a first class community park that offers year-round activities for every member of the family even the four-legged ones The 10000 square foot Skate Park was profes- sionally designed to provide a fun experi- ence for skaters of all ages and skill levels. Features include gaps flats hubbas and grinds all popular skater lingo plus a seven foot kindey shaped bowl. The parks beautiful Public Swimming Pool is open daily during the summer and week- ends during other warm weather times of the year and offers a wonderful family friendly atmosphere complete with certified lifeguards. The Baseball and Softball Fields at the community park are newly constructed and well maintained and offer a place to play for Little League high school and private league games. A one acre Dog Park is open during daylight hours and provides two separate canine play grounds one for large dogs and one for the little guys. Installed toys water stations and waste pick up stations provided as well as fire plugs from the PAVFD. policies to discourage the under-25 clientele. The town em- barked upon marketing campaigns directed to the same kinds of families who visited during the summer months and who were purchasing vacations homes and condo- miniums the lions share of whom lived in San Antonio and Austin. This turn in strategy ended up being one of the best decisions ever made on behalf of Port A which took the opportunity to broadcast its competitive advantages com- pared to the other Texas coastal destinationscloser than South Padre and cleaner than Galveston. Spring visitors to Port Aransas enjoy the same great ac- tivities that are enjoyed in summertime with a few pros and cons. Temperatures obviously are cooler usually in the low to mid-80s but spring weather can be unpredictable. Off- shore fishing in the spring tends to be a bit less hospitable than inshore flats and bay fishing with the bonus of active migrations of flounder redfish and other game species in the spring. Whats true during Spring Break is what you find in Port A the rest of the year beautiful clean beaches great restaurants and attractions a welcoming village setting and the friendliest people on the Texas Coast An Exceptional Community Park
