42 THE COASTAL BEND MAGAZINE • Late Spring 2019 TheCoastalBend.com Coastal Bend Home The kidney-shaped swimming pool is about 20 feet in length and is adorn with a Dallas Cowboys star on the bottom—good thing the buyer is a fan. At some point in recent years, red bricks, underlaid with sand, were put in to replace the grass yard. This will be reversed and the first step was the laborious removal of over a thousand, five-pound bricks that will be re-purposed elsewhere on the property. An outdoor bar and party pavilion was also constructed, complete with electrical wiring and a granite bar top—this is also being removed to make space for a larger grass yard, fire pit and‘outdoor living room’furnishings, to be covered with a large awning. What is now a plastic-fenced, uncovered patio off the master bedroom, will be covered, and an outdoor bar and kitchen will be installed. The wooden fence that runs along the rear (west) and south sides of the backyard is mostly in tact, and is wired for lighting accents, but will be replaced with a new fence with new lighting fixtures. The wooden fence currently ends at the front edge of the main house, but will be extended to the turn in the horseshoe-shaped driveway—this will provide added security and privacy. A rusted and non-functioning white, wrought-iron fence, with matching gates that rode on iron rails, was removed. A black, aluminum fence will be installed from the end of the new wooden fence, to the new position for the matching, motorized gates—about another twenty feet toward the street. A pedestrian gate will be installed, with an inter- com/video system, and an entry that will lead visitors along a red brick path, through the newly-landscaped, Italian-Mediterranean (and dog-friendly) garden, complete with the LED-lighted, working fountain. A short cinder block wall sepa- rates Ocean Sloth from its only neighbors, to the north, will be built up to six feet or so, that will add privacy to both properties. It all sounds like a dream now, just as the work begins, but progress will be amply evident by our next edition!
