Kody’s Restaurant & Bar—Few establishments in
the Coastal Bend have been more successful in hid-
ing their incredible food than Kody’s in Port A, except
to the real local-locals. Owner Edwin Meyers could be
the best and least-known chef in the region, and his
talent to train his cooks to pull off perfection on each
plate is to be commended. Line up for the best Prime
Rib on Thursday evenings. 2034 TX-361, Port Aransas
Le Sturgeon Seafood—It didn’t take long for this
new Portland seafood house to win over locals, as
word spread across the Bay Area, and customers mi-
grated from miles around. The second location of the
popular establishment of the same name in Cotton-
wood Shores is serving Portlanders real Cajun-style
seafood to include some of the best gumbo west of
Sabine Pass. 1010 Railroad Ave. in Portland
Guajillo’s on the Island—In the Coastal Bend, the
moniker “the Mex without the Tex” is a bold state-
ment, indeed, where Tex-Mex is represented at all
levels in over 100 establishments. Chef Fernando and
his family brought authentic recipes from Mexico
City that have been passed down for more than 400
years to North Padre Island. Rated on Yelp the best in
the region, third in Texas. 15037 SPID on Padre Island
